The Catalan Hiking Federation (FEEC) is delighted to invite you to come and discover one of the most beautiful corners of Catalonia, the Costa Brava and the Alt Empordà region: a magical place of breath-taking beauty, where the Pyrenees merge with the Mediterranean and where Surrealism and one of its prime exponents, artist Salvador Dalí, have left a deep imprint.

Between 30 April and 7 May 2017 we will be holding the first Catalonia Trek Festival, a week packed with events to help you get to know the finest landscapes of the Costa Brava and some of the country’s most interesting cultural sights. Everything is based around the E12 long-distance trail, ‘the trail of the Mediterranean Arc’, which in Catalonia follows the route of the GR®92, the backbone running through a week full of activities that we are sure cannot fail to delight you.

Catalonia is your host for the third edition of the International Hiking Meeting on the E12 Mediterranean Arch. With its hub in the Empordanese town of Roses, the Catalonia Trek Festival takes place between 30 April and 7 May 2017, a unique event which aims to bring together hiking and culture around the core theme of the E12 - the hiking trail of the Mediterranean Arch.

CTF Programme

  • Dalí Museum, visit to Figueres and the Roses Citadel

The Dalí Museum, which opened in 1974, stands on top of the remains of the former Municipal Theatre of Figueres and is regarded as the last great work of Salvador Dalí.

  • Ruins of Empúries and visit to the Espelt winery (DO Empordà)

Empúries is the only archaeological site on the Iberian Peninsula where the remains of a Greek city – the colonial outpost of Emporion – live alongside the remains of a Roman city raised in the early 1st century BC on top of the structures of a Roman military camp installed during the previous century.

  • Medieval Baix Empordà and hike to Montgrí Castle

Peratallada, Ullastret, Pals, Palau-sator and Vulpellac are some of the most representative examples and form part of the triangle known as the Tuscany of the Costa Brava. These beautiful, golden-hued villages provide a stunning counterpart to the picture-postcard rural scenery.

  • Visit to the city of Girona

No meeting of this type held in the Empordà region can fail to include a visit to the provincial capital and unquestionably one of the most delightful cities in Europe.

  • Visit to Barcelona

It would be impossible to even attempt to visit the city of Barcelona, one of the most important tourist destinations in the world, in the space of just one day. For this reason, we propose a walking tour to get an up-close look at some of the most outstanding features of the Modernist Route, one of the treasures of the Catalan capital.
